Annual Utah Youth Summit on
Bio-Innovation - Bio-Innovation is a
leading force in the changing face of
medicine, scientific discovery, our
environment, and economic growth.
Bio-Inventions that can send and receive
signals from the brain are helping the
blind to see, the deaf to hear, and may
eventually help the paralyzed to walk
again. Bio-Sensors can tell if we are
sick or well, or even if we are about to
get sick! Bio-Imaging systems can peer
deep within the body.
Bio-Environmentalism can clean up
chemical spills and purify water and
soil with bacteria. Bio-Computing can
predict the body's response and spur the
progress of discovery. Utah is a leader
in Bio-Innovation, and it is one of the
most important aspects of our economy.
The 1st Annual High School Youth Summit
on Bio-Innovation will bring together
High School Students, Researchers and
Students from the University of Utah
College of Engineering, and Business
Leaders from Utah's Bio-Industry to
explore the opportunities and challenges
for Bio-Innovation in Utah. Come join us
to learn more about these amazing
technologies, and to meet the people who
are inventing them. Find out about
Bio-Innovations in Bio-, Chemical,
Electrical, Civil, Computer, Mechanical,
Materials Science Engineering, and
Computer Science. And then help us
explore the social and ethical
implications of Bio-Innovation in our
changing world. The Youth Summit on
Bio-Innovation will be the voice of
Utah's Youth in providing a
recommendation to Governor Huntsman and
the State of Utah about where YOU think
Bio-Innovation in Utah should go from
here. YOUR ideas, thoughts, challenges,
and opinions matter. Join us to make a
difference. Registration Deadline: May

Utah
Business Week - Utah Business Week
strives to educate students about a
free-market economy and prepare them for
the lives and careers that lie
ahead of them. This program is
teamwork-oriented and enables students
to work with their peers in companies
that will compete throughout the week.
With the assistance of an advisor,
students are guided through projects and
participate in a realistic business
situation. To supplement these
activities, business professionals are
invited from around the state to share
their expertise and give students a
first-hand glimpse of business in the
real world. This year, Business
Week will run from July 13-19, 2008 at
Utah State University.
Participants will get a glimpse of
college life and stay in new dorms and
use college facilities. Students
must be high school sophomores or
juniors to be eligible to apply.
Applications are due by May 30, 2008 and
may be submitted online at:
www.utahbusinessweek.org.
If accepted, students pay only $80 of
tuition for the week. Thanks to
generous sponsors, most of UBW costs
($500 in value) are covered.
